I had plans to post my favorite Christmas recipes, homemade gifts, favorite Holiday songs and more, but none of that happened, because this Island Girl’s mind was somewhere else: after 10 months, I was finally heading home!
Many places have been home for me these past few years, but no matter where I live, in the words of my friend Carolina, founder of 1000 Awesome Things About Curaçao, I will always have one toe on the beautiful island of Curaçao.
And every time I return, I am swept away by Curaçao’s beauty, by the realization that I am beyond lucky to have grown up here, and that I am blessed to be able to return home to a slice of paradise.
A slice of paradise where it is so easy to disconnect, step away from the everyday busy life and just relax.
With beautiful beaches to explore, a colorful downtown to wander through and restaurants and bars almost always on or facing the water, Curaçao is the perfect place to escape your reality.
And that is exactly my plan every time I come home; Beach, eat, sleep, repeat surrounded by family and friends. That plan suits Pablo too, who besides being an Ironman, is also a a fish.
After not having been in Curaçao for 3 years, he was excited when I suggested we explore all of Curaçao’s beaches…37 according to Algemeen Dagblad, and we’re determined to find #38….
The Algemeen Dagblad article is in Dutch, but don’t worry, now that we’ve explored almost all the island’s beaches, I’ll have an English version for you soon! And as always, if you’re heading to Curaçao feel free to Contact Me or head over to Sand & Stilettos, Curaçao’s very own Travel Concierge, and we’ll help you make the most out of your Curaçao island adventure.
Anyone else exploring a new, fun destination this Christmas and/or New Years? Do you like the cold or warm weather destinations for you Winter vacations?
