Happy belated Halloween!
I missed Friday’s link-up with Cynthia, Courtney and Mar, because I was working all day, then I had to run to Party City to replace my wig which I couldn’t find (tip: don’t go to a Halloween or costume store on Halloween, what a mad house!) and then after a couple of years of only doing Halloween Fun Runs, Pablo and I actually headed to a Halloween party!
Can you guess who we were?
Our costume was super easy and I always love wearing a wig and transforming into character. Oh, and there was a lip syncing competition, which we entered and won!
Replicate the look:
- Sandy: red heels, black tights or pants, black shirt, blond wig and fake cigarette (I wrapped a piece of paper).
- Danny: black shoes, white socks, black pants, black t-shirt, leather jacket, if you have one.
Because I was running around, I missed many of the trick-or-treaters and ended up with a gigantic bag of leftover candy, so I decided to also get creative and do some Halloween Baking.
Here are 5 recipes for leftover Halloween candy:
- Butterfinger Banana Nut Muffins
- Milky Way & Baby Ruth Cookies
- Peanut Butter CUPcakes
- Snickers Cheesecake
- Three Musketeer Brownies
Yep, I did a lot of baking this weekend!
Luckily we had a DC Triathlon Club Spooky 10K Relay to go to and I brought along all my baked goods, otherwise I fear Pablo and I would have eaten it all! I didn’t run the race, because of my hamstring injury, but I went as a Photograph-Arrrgh and took lots of fun shots of the runners.
What did you do this Halloween weekend?
I took William trick or treating for the first time! Ok it was for like ten minutes because it was so cold! 🙂 The school where I teach is collecting leftover Halloween candy for Operation Gratitude – they will send it to our troops overseas!
the poor BUTTERFINGERS are NOT popular here—in muffins?? perhaps 🙂
Great idea for the leftover candy — however, I was able to pass out all of mine to the Halloween revelers. But, I may be able to get my hands on more -I only have one son who is still trick or treating, but he brought home a TON . . maybe more than his bodyweight, lol
Oh my gosh, those costumes are too awesome and I love the idea of baking with leftover candy! How fun 🙂
I loved y’alls costumes. Alex was a doctor and I was a PJ’d young housewife with a cat on my stomach and ice cream in my bowl. Pretty typical
Haha, I love the costumes!!
I love everything about this post! And those Peanut Butter CUPcakes need to happen in my kitchen ASAP! 🙂
We just ate the last of those yesterday and they are so yummy, I’m making another batch today…and I might make a few with 2 PB cups!
